OSTEOCLASTS:Osteoclasts are the cells which resorb the bone. Osteoclasts are derived from circulating monocytes. They are large giant cells with multiple nuclei. These cells occupy irregular resorption bays called Howshipโs lacunae.โก๏ธ Histology of OsteoclastsOsteoclasts are large, multinucleated cells responsible for bone resorption. They derived from hematopoietic stem cells of the monocyte-macrophage lineage. The key histological features are:1.Multinucleation: Large cells (20โ100 ยตm) with multiple nuclei (usually 5โ20 per cell).Reflecting their origin from the fusion of mononuclear precursors. ย BRAIN MAP FOR HISTOLOGY OF OSTEOCLASTS
