Write short note on Histology of Osteoclasts

OSTEOCLASTS:

Osteoclasts are the cells which resorb the bone. Osteoclasts are derived from circulating monocytes. They are large giant cells with multiple nuclei. These cells occupy irregular resorption bays called Howshipโ€™s lacunae.

โžก๏ธ Histology of Osteoclasts

Osteoclasts are large, multinucleated cells responsible for bone resorption. They derived from hematopoietic stem cells of the monocyte-macrophage lineage. The key histological features are:

1.Multinucleation:

  • Large cells (20โ€“100 ยตm) with multiple nuclei (usually 5โ€“20 per cell).
  • Reflecting their origin from the fusion of mononuclear precursors.
